چکیده

To save the labeling efforts for training a classification model, we can simultaneously adopt Active Learning (AL) to select the most informative samples for human labeling, and Semi-supervised Learning (SSL) to construct effective classifiers using a few labeled samples and a large number of unlabeled samples. Recently, using Transfer Learning (TL) to enhance AL and SSL, i.e., T-SS-AL, has gained considerable attention. However, existing T-SS-AL methods mostly focus on the situation where the source domain and the target domain share the same classes. In this paper, we consider a more practical and challenging setting where the source domain and the target domain have different but related classes. We propose a novel cross-class sample transfer based T-SS-AL method, called CCSS-AL, to exploit the information from the source domain. Our key idea is to select samples from the source domain which are very similar to the target domain classes and assign pseudo labels to them for classifier training. Extensive experiments on three datasets verify the efficacy of the proposed method.

Detecting Concept Drift in Data Stream Using Semi-Supervised Classification

Data stream is a sequence of data generated from various information sources at a high speed and high volume. Classifying data streams faces the three challenges of unlimited length, online processing, and concept drift. In related research, to meet the challenge of unlimited stream length, commonly the stream is divided into fixed size windows or gradual forgetting is used. Concept drift refer...

Semi-Supervised and Cross-Lingual Knowledge Transfer Learnings for DNN Hybrid Acoustic Models Under Low-Resource Conditions

Semi-supervised and cross-lingual knowledge transfer learnings are two strategies for boosting performance of lowresource speech recognition systems. In this paper, we propose a unified knowledge transfer learning method to deal with these two learning tasks. Such a knowledge transfer learning is realized by fine-tuning of Deep Neural Network (DNN). We demonstrate its effectiveness in both mono...

Hierarchical Active Transfer Learning

We describe a unified active transfer learning framework called Hierarchical Active Transfer Learning (HATL). HATL exploits cluster structure shared between different data domains to perform transfer learning by imputing labels for unlabeled target data and to generate effective label queries during active learning. The resulting framework is flexible enough to perform not only adaptive transfe...

Composite Kernel Optimization in Semi-Supervised Metric

Machine-learning solutions to classification, clustering and matching problems critically depend on the adopted metric, which in the past was selected heuristically. In the last decade, it has been demonstrated that an appropriate metric can be learnt from data, resulting in superior performance as compared with traditional metrics. This has recently stimulated a considerable interest in the to...

Improving Relevance Feedback in Image Retrieval by Incorporating Unlabelled Images

In content-base image retrieval, relevance feedback (RF) schemes based on support vector machine (SVM) have been widely used to narrow the semantic gap between low-level visual features and high-level human perception. However, the performance of image retrieval with SVM active learning is known to be poor when the training data is insufficient. In this paper, the problem is solved by incorpora...
